After enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1981, Nick served in a variety of capacities ranging from Food Service toRecruiting to Squadron Sergeant Major. His overseas deployments have included Beirut, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait (as part of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm) and most recently Iraq (as the Logistics Chief for Operation Iraqi Freedom). He was stationed in Hawaii three times, first in 1982, then in 1989 and again in 1997. He retired from military service in 2006 with the rank of Master Sergeant.
His numerous awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, National Defense Medal with one bronze star, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with one silver and one bronze star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation with two bronze stars, Presidential Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment ribbon with one silver star, and the Recruiting Ribbon.
Nick is a service-disabled veteran and resides permanently in Honolulu with his wife, Kimberly Ann Greeley, Esq. On the weekends he enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and sailing.
